The Ashland Outbreak The night was thick with fog as Norfolk Southern Train 417 barreled down the tracks near Ashland, Ohio. The cargo manifest listed chemicals, but nobody knew the extent of the government's involvement until it was too late. At 2:13 AM, a switch failure sent the train screaming off the rails, flipping cars like toy blocks. The explosion was seen for miles, a fiery burst against the dark sky. First responders rushed in, unaware they were stepping into hell itself. The chemical spill seeped into the ground, releasing an eerie green mist. Paramedics found survivors coughing violently, their eyes glazed over. One firefighter radioed for backup then screamed. A minute later, his radio fell silent. By dawn, Ashland was a war zone. The "survivors" from the wreck rose, their flesh gray, their movements jerky. They turned on anyone within reach, spreading the infection with every bite. The National Guard blockaded Route 250, but it was too late. The zombies moved
