12th Madras Native Infantry #35779635
Description
During the early 19th century, the 12th Madras Native Infantry wore a standard red coat with green facings. The regiment was present at the famed Battle of Assaye under Arthur Wellesley, future Duke of Wellington. They were formed at Wellesley's center, along with a few other Madras battalions and the 78th Highlanders on their left. With the support of the rest of the center, the 12th decimated the Maratha center with devastating volleys and sent them running across the Juah River, decisively winning the battle.
