Description
The 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Night Stalkers) is a long-range, heavy-lift special operations aviation unit. They specialize in transporting and inserting special operations forces, such as Army Rangers, deep into hostile or austere environments. Using MH-60M Black Hawks for medium-lift assaults and MH-47G Chinooks for long-range and heavy-lift operations, 3rd Battalion pilots conduct precision night insertions, extractions, and support for joint special operations missions. Unlike other SOAR battalions, 3rd Battalion occasionally operates MH-6 Little Birds, but mostly focusing instead on larger aircraft and extended-range operations.
