Description
By the early 1960s, law enforcement across the State of Hennepin had become dangerously inconsistent. In rural areas, some sheriffs operated like small-town warlords, while in cities like Langley Falls, corruption scandals and botched operations were becoming alarmingly common. There was no standardized training—most officers learned on the job, often through outdated, inconsistent, or even unethical practices. After constant failed hostage situations, Governor Harland W. Mercer enforced the Law Enforcement Standardization Act, which made every peace officer new or old take several phases of learning before becoming law enforcement again. All peace officers within Hennepin are required to be certified by this academy. Residency is required for admission into the HLEA.
