Description

The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services, also known as the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Service, or simply DCFEMS, is a force of over 2,000 dedicated first responders who respond to fire and medical calls within the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia. The duties of DCFEMS include responding to fire- and medical-related calls, conducting fire inspections to support fire prevention, and assisting the residents of the District of Columbia. The DCFEMS works with the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, the United States Capitol Police, and the United States Park Police. They partner with these agencies—and many others—to support fire prevention, respond to active fires, provide emergency medical services, and ensure the smooth and safe operation of the city.
