Description

The House of Kämmerlein (Haus Kämmerlein) is a European dynasty of Austrian origin, whose members have held sovereign and noble titles in Central Europe. The family rose to prominence in the Holy Roman Empire in the late 12th Century, taking their name from Kämmerlein Castle in Sankt-Hedwig. Following the collapse of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, the Principality of Kämmerlein joined the Rhine Confederation as an independent state, gaining full sovereignty after the Confederation’s 1813 dissolution following Napoleon’s defeat at the Battle of Leipzig in the War of the Sixth Coalition.
