[TRR] The Old Gods of the Forest #35894479

RoleplayENhistorical roleplaymedievalFrench history

Description

The Old Gods of the Forest represent the oldest known religion in Westeros, predating the arrival of the First Men and the later Andal invasion. Unlike structured religions with temples, clergy, and codified doctrine, the Old Gods embody a deeply animistic worldview in which the divine resides in the natural world itself. Their history is inseparable from the Children of the Forest, the First Men, and the cultural evolution of Westeros over thousands of years. The Old Gods were first worshipped by the Children of the Forest, the non‑human inhabitants of Westeros who lived there for thousands of years before the First Men arrived twelve thousand years ago. The Children carved faces into weirwood trees, which they considered sacred; these trees served as conduits for their gods and as watchful guardians of the forests. Greenseers, powerful shamans among the Children, were believed to see through the eyes of these carved faces and wield prophetic abilities
