Il Friuli Venezia Giulia è una regione storico-geografica dell'Italia nord-orientale dell'Italia che si affaccia sul mare Adriatico e confina con l'Austria e la Slovenia. La regione ospita i picchi delle Dolomiti, Alpi Carniche e Alpi Giulie e per i vigneti famosi ed il prosciutto di San Daniele oltre al frico. Il friulano è la principale lingua minoritaria della regione ed è prevalentemente utilizzato in ambito domestico, a volte lavorativo, e nei circoli culturali.
