🌷 | During the Napoleonic Wars, the Qing Empire was the ruling dynasty in China, but it remained mostly isolated from the conflicts shaking Europe. While Napoleon was battling across the continent, the Qing government, under the Jiaqing Emperor, was more focused on internal challenges. Suppressing rebellions, especially the White Lotus Rebellion, and dealing with growing corruption and administrative problems. 🌷 | China had little direct contact with Europe’s wars, but European powers were becoming increasingly interested in trade with China, which would eventually lead to bigger conflicts later in the 19th century.
