Led by Mon Mothma, it reestablished the Senate and limited military power to prevent authoritarian rule. Internal political divisions and a failure to recognize the rising threat of the First Order weakened the Republic. In 34 ABY, the First Order destroyed its capital, Hosnian Prime, effectively crippling the New Republic. ═───────────────────────────────═
