Description
The Régiment de Bourbonnais was one of the veteran regiments of the French Royal Army, with a lineage dating back to the early 17th century. By the time of the American Revolutionary War, it had already earned distinction in numerous European campaigns, including the War of the Spanish Succession and the War of the Austrian Succession. As part of the Expédition Particulière under General Rochambeau, the Bourbonnais was deployed to North America in 1780 to support the American struggle for independence. The regiment endured the long march across New England and played a central role in the decisive Siege of Yorktown in 1781, where its disciplined volleys and steady advance helped break British resistance. Alongside its sister regiments, Bourbonnais contributed significantly to the final victory over British forces, earning long lasting recognition for its service in securing American independence.
