Description
πΏποΈ ππππππππππ ππππππ ποΈπΏ Originally formed as the Regiment of Mounted Velites in 1807 and served as an attached company to the Veliti a Piedi, formed a second company in 1808 upon the arrival of Joachim Murat & was officially changed from a mounted "infantry" unit to a "Squadrone" of cavalry in 1809. From 1809 onwards, the regiment wore white & amaranth hussar dress, signifying its denomination as a regiment of the Guard calling back to Murat's Grand Duchy of Berg. While ravaged in the Russian Campaign, the regiment fought with great distinction during the early months of the invasion, coming into battle against Cossacks frequently.
