Description
The Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Response Team (SRT) in San Francisco serves as a tactical unit within the HSI San Francisco Field Office, the SRT is tasked with executing high-risk operations across Northern California, including the execution of search and arrest warrants, apprehension of dangerous suspects, and response to critical incidents such as hostage situations or barricaded subjects. Beyond their regional responsibilities, HSI SRTs are structured to provide national support. There are 20 SRT units based in ICE field offices across the United States, including San Francisco. These teams can be deployed to areas lacking a local SRT presence, ensuring rapid tactical response capabilities nationwide. Deployment decisions are coordinated through HSI leadership, allowing SRTs to assist in various operations, from high-risk law enforcement activities to national emergencies and special events.
