Montreal Militia Corps #36058799
Description
🌿𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐃𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋🌿 Founded in the early 18th century, the Montreal Militia Corps served as the primary defensive force for the settlement of Ville-Marie (modern-day Montreal). Comprised mainly of local habitants, voyageurs, and tradesmen, the Corps specialized in frontier defense, rapid skirmishes, and seasonal patrols along the St. Lawrence River. Though not formally part of the royal army, they often fought alongside French regulars and Indigenous allies. The Corps became a symbol of civic duty and resilience in the face of British and Iroquois threats.
