Formed in response to the grave threat of communist expansion, URVAF was created to defend the sovereignty of the nation and to lead the struggle for national reunification under the banner of republic Comprising disciplined infantry regiments, armored columns, specialized assault units, and a corps of officers trained in the military tradition, the Armed Forces embody the spirit of duty, sacrifice, and honor. Each soldier bears the solemn responsibility of defending the homeland, not only with strength of arms but with unwavering devotion to the cause of a free and united Vietnam.
