Numerus Felicium Theodosiacus #36070939
Description
The Felices Theodosiani later the Numerus Felicium Theodosiacus is a unit of auxilia palatina raised by Theodosius I the Great after the battle of Adrianople/Edirne in 378 AD. It was recruited in the highlands, mountains, and upland basins of Illyria and Thrace. Regular recruitment would continue to happen there, then switch to happen locally in the area which in which it was stationed which was eastern Asia Minor then Ravenna in Italy. It was always stationed in somewhere in the East, and by the beginning of the 5th century it was stationed in Asia Minor under the command of the Magister Militum Praesentalis Secunda. Later on, it would take part in the reconquest of Italy under Belisarius from 544-550 AD and would remain in Italy afterwards as the garrison of Ravenna and perhaps the city of Rome. They were still stationed in Italy in around 600 AD. The unit would continue to exist until the fall of Roman Italy.
