𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐭𝐚 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 The 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment was one of the first regiments to be mustered in the Army of the North. They saw combat in the eastern theater, fighting in battles such as Gettysburg, Sharpsburg, and both Bull Run engagements. The regiment is especially known for their valor at the Battle of Gettysburg, where they held the southerner's advance experiencing hundreds of casualties, essentially saving a whole portion of the union line that day. Later, the regiment was praised by President Calvin Coolidge.
