Il Partito Socialista Italiano (PSI) è una forza politica storica della sinistra riformista italiana, fondata nel 1892. Nato come espressione del movimento operaio e socialista, il PSI ha avuto un ruolo centrale nella storia politica del Paese, contribuendo in modo determinante allo sviluppo dei diritti dei lavoratori, dello Stato sociale e delle libertà civili. Il partito si ispira ai valori del socialismo democratico, del riformismo, della laicità dello Stato e della giustizia sociale. Nel corso del Novecento ha rappresentato una delle principali componenti della sinistra italiana, distinguendosi sia dal comunismo rivoluzionario sia dal conservatorismo, puntando su riforme graduali, istituzionali e democratiche. Il PSI è stato protagonista di importanti stagioni di governo, in particolare negli anni Settanta e Ottanta, contribuendo a riforme significative in ambito economico, sociale e civile.
