Description
1945년 11월 13일 국방에 관련된 군정 및 군령과 군사에 관한 사무를 관장하기 위해 국방사령부라는 이름으로 시작되었고, 1946년 3월 29일 군정법령 제 64 호 의거 국방부로 변경되어, 1948년 8월 15일 정부수립과 함께 정부조직법에 의거하여 국방부가 설치되었다.
