Description
Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬 ═───────────═ VMFA-115 was one of the Marine Corps’ premier fighter attack squadrons during the Vietnam War, flying the F-4B Phantom II out of Chu Lai Air Base from 1966 to 1971. The “Silver Eagles” provided close air support, interdiction, and escort missions in support of III Marine Amphibious Force (III MAF). Pilots and Radar Intercept Officers (RIOs) flew thousands of combat sorties, often under heavy anti-aircraft fire, while ground crews worked tirelessly to keep the Phantoms mission-ready.
