Description
Founded in 1659 by Duke of Savoy, Charles Emanuel II, the Reggimento delle Guardie (Regiment of Guards) was the elite personal body guard of the royal family of Savoy and later the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. The unit fought with distinction in the wars of Spanish Succession, Polish Succession, Austrian Succession, and the war of the First Coalition.
