Description
A ISD é uma "base oculta dentro da Fundação", uma força da polícia secreta responsável por filtrar traidores, bem como riscos operacionais e de segurança da informação entre as fileiras da Fundação. O departamento é estritamente hierárquico, aderindo a um protocolo investigativo de várias etapas rigorosamente definido. Os agentes potenciais da ISD devem ter um registro de serviço perfeito e um período de serviço básico de mais de um ano. Geralmente, cada agente da ISD mantém sua posição "oficial" para fornecer a seu comando uma descrição em primeira mão de tudo que acontece em um determinado departamento. A própria existência da DSI é geralmente apresentada como um mito. A responsabilidade "oficial" da ISD é a investigação e interrogação de agentes capturados do GOI, embora essa parte da DSI pertença oficialmente ao Departamento de Segurança para efeitos de sigilo.
