Description

The Institute, formerly known as the Commonwealth Institute of Technology, is a powerful faction in fallout 4 which aims to advance humanity and destroy pre-war technology. They are well-known for their mass production of Synths (Synthetic Humans) who have given the Institute a bad reputation following the discovery of them killing & replacing people with Synths in their various operations in the Commonwealth. They are opposed to the Brotherhood of Steel and the Railroad - the Brotherhood because their tactics oppose, and the Railroad because the Railroad was formed for Synth freedom. The Institute is also very technologically advanced - their Synths are almost indistinguishable from real humans, and they have invented teleportation technology to allow free transport between facilities without needing to have a vulnerable, exterior entrance to their underground facilities. They also have notably created advanced laser rifles, capable of disintegrating targets to ashes.
