Description
Sledgehammer Games originally began work on a Call of Duty third-person shooter in 2009, which would reportedly extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre. However, due to the departures of Jason West and Vince Zampella, and 46 other employees from Infinity Ward throughout April and May 2010, Activision halted the production of this new title, and requested Sledgehammer Games to work with Infinity Ward to co-develop Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 instead. Sledgehammer Games had spent six months working on the Call of Duty third-person shooter before they began working with Infinity Ward. The studio aims for Modern Warfare 3 to be a 95-plus rated game, and for it to be essentially bug-free in order to meet the high expectations of gamers today. As of October 2011, Sledgehammer Games have said that they will likely cancel the third-person shooter, but haven't ruled out the possibility of resuming development in the future.
