𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐬 – 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐈𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚 “The German Volunteers” The New Braunfels Militia was formed in April 1845 as the German immigrant settlement of New Braunfels was established. Created to organize the community for local defense and public order, it provided the new settlers a means to meet the obligations expected of residents of the Republic. Composed largely of farmers and craftsmen, the company reflected the determination of the settlers to protect and sustain their new home. It became known for discipline and for blending European traditions with the practical demands of life on the Texas frontier. Regiment Cap: 10
