Grant County Sheriff's Officeᅠ #430944059
Description
The Grant County Sheriff position was created in 1843 by the Marion territorial governor to ensure order across the territory's most populous county. By 1868 the population had grown to levels that the position had to be reformed into a proper office, creating the Grant County Sheriff's Office. Since 1871, the position of Sheriff has been an elected position by the county residents rather than by appointment. Today, the Grant County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) acts as the county-level civilian law enforcement agency of the County of Grant.
