Description
Honma Clan --------------------------------- Year: 1504 Daimyo: Lord Honma Yamanushī --------------------------------- The Honma clan ruled Sado Island during the Sengoku period. Their power was divided between the Hamochi-Honma and Kawarada-Honma branches, which often fought against each other. This constant rivalry weakened the clan and drew the attention of powerful neighbors. Uesugi Kenshin intervened in their disputes, but after his death the balance collapsed. The Honma also gained influence through their control of Sado’s rich gold and silver mines, which made the island an attractive target for rival clans and strengthened their role in regional trade. They were known not only for their resources, but also for their resilience as island rulers, defending their land until their eventual downfall to the Uesugi clan.
