The Special Operations Executive (SOE) "Baseplate" OP Overlord The Special Operations Executive (SOE) was a British organization formed in 1940 during World War II to conduct espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance in German-occupied Europe, and to support local resistance movements. They also operated in occupied territories in Southeast Asia. SOE agents, including men and women, were trained in various skills, including sabotage, communication, and unarmed combat, and were often parachuted into enemy territory. The SOE operated under the OSS lead teams called the "Jedburgh Teams" composed of OSS, SOE along with other forces like the SAS and French Commandos who operated in enemy territory in the pre-landings of D-Day in Normandy France.
