𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐇𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐄 Founded, 25th September 2018 Ownership change, 27th June 2020 Established in 1567 as a Landgraviate and part of the Holy Roman Empire, Hesse-Darmstadt joined the Confederation of the Rhine after the defeat of Austria and Russia at Austerlitz in 1805 by Napoleon and the disbandment of the Holy Roman Empire itself. The Landgraviate was elevated in status, annexing nearby lands such as the Duchy of Westphalia and became the Grand Duchy of Hesse, a client state of the French Empire. The Grand Duchy would assist Napoleon's Army in their Campaigns in Prussia, the Iberian Peninsular, and the Invasion of Russia, personally impressing the French Emperor with their conduct on the field of battle. "Gott, Ehre, Vaterland!" God, Honor, Fatherland!
