The 1st Canadian Infantry Regiment (1CIR) serves as the primary ground combat force within the Army. As the backbone of military operations, 1CIR is responsible for executing land-based missions, maintaining security, and supporting all branches of the force. Personnel of 1CIR are trained in discipline, teamwork, and combat readiness. From new recruits to experienced leaders, all members are expected to uphold high standards of professionalism and follow the chain of command at all times. Our responsibilities include: • Ground operations and patrols • Base defense and security • Field training exercises • Support to specialized units • Deployment readiness Advancement is earned through performance, activity, and leadership. 1CIR works alongside units such as the Canadian Governor General’s Guard, Military Police, and special operations elements to ensure a coordinated and effective force.
