Description
Hathor, in ancient Egyptian religion, goddess of the sky, of women, and of fertility and love. Hathor's worship originated in early dynastic times (3rd millennium bce). The name Hathor means “estate of Horus” and may not be her original name. Why is Hathor so important? Hathor was one of the most important and complex goddesses of ancient Egypt. A mother goddess who created and maintained all life on earth, Hathor was also worshiped as goddess of the sky, fertility, music, and dance and as the symbolic mother of the pharaoh, or ruler. As the goddess of love, Hathor possesses the ability to manipulate any man or woman, whether they be mortal, god or beast to do her bidding. When she uses such an ability, her eyes will glow a brief gold and she will say "I command you".
