Description
Artemis is one on the 12 Olympian Gods that live on Mount Olympus. She is the goddess of the hunt, Goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, the moon, and archery. She was the patron and protector of young girls and was believed to bring disease upon women and relieve them of it. Artemis was worship as one of the primary goddesses of childbirth. She is the daughter of the god Zeus, king of the gods and Leto, who was the Titan goddess of motherhood and demureness. Artemis was the twin sister of Apollo, the god of healing, the sun and light. Artemis swore to stay a maiden goddess which seems a little contradicting considering she was given the role of childbirth. The symbol of Artemis is the bow and arrow that she uses as a huntress. The arrows of Artemis could also bring sudden death and disease to girls and women. Artemis got her bow and arrow for the first time from The Kyklopes, like the one she asked from her father.
