Description
The construction of 1st Guard Brigade known as the "Tigers" began on November 5, 1990 in the Rakitje base, near Zagreb as a special purpose unit of the MoI of the Republic of Croatia. On May 25, 1991, together with the other units of the National Folk Battalion in Zagreb and its surroundings, the 1st Battalion of the ### Brigade was battalion. Tigers then make up seven battalions (battalions) plus UN. At that time the battalions were called by bases or code names: 1. battalion - Vrapče (Ćuk), 2nd battalion Rakitje (Kos), 3rd battalion - Pionier, by Pionir city (Žuna), 4th battalion - Kumrovec and Petruševac (Gavran), 5th Battalion - Vinica near Varaždin (Oblak), 6th Battalion - Tomislavac at the mountaineering home in Sljeme (Orao). Motto: "For Croatia like a tiger!"
