Description

Founded in 1939, after the amalgamation of Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd, British Overseas Airways Corporation started taking over the skies with small propeller planes such as the Boeing 314 “Clipper”, the Boeing 377 “Stratocruiser”, the Douglas DC-3 and both the Douglas DC-7 and Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation. During the 1950s, the first jet powered aircraft, the comet, enter the fleet of B.O.A.C. In the next decade, after the grounding of the comets, the 707-436 began flying with them with the new Conway engines. As well as that, they enquired the Vickers Comercial type 10, or more commonly known as the VC-10.
