Description
The Dutchman was originally a privateer vessel commissioned by the United Provinces, later serving under the Batavian Republic. Following the French annexation of the Netherlands, the crew refused to sail beneath the French banner, abandoning their commission and defecting to the Pirate Republic instead. Since then, the ship got it's name The "Flying" Dutchman and has earned infamy across the seas, particularly among French merchants, who regard the Dutchman and her crew as ruthless marauders known for swift raids, merciless boarding actions, and leaving few ships untouched in their wake.
