กรมทหารพรานนาวิกโยธิน (กรม ทพ.นย.) สถาปนาขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2559 สังกัดหน่วยบัญชาการนาวิกโยธิน กองทัพเรือ เพื่อทดแทนกำลังรบหลักในการแก้ไขปัญหาความไม่สงบในชายแดนภาคใต้ โดยเฉพาะในพื้นที่จ.นราธิวาส ปฏิบัติภารกิจเชิงรุกและพัฒนาสัมพันธ์กับประชาชนตามแนวทาง "ทหารพรานนาวิกโยธิน เป็นทหารของประชาชน"
