Kerguel is predominantly English, with small French and Afrikans communities. The legacy of British colonialism is strong in Kerguel, and is reflected heavily in the traditions and culture of the islands. The capital is the city of Providence on the main island of Kerguel, the quaint city is known for it's coffee shops and window shopping, as well as the iconic Kerguel Botanic Gardens.
