Description
The Yonezawa Domain (米沢藩, "Yonezawa-han") was a feudal domain in Japan's Edo period, centered around Yonezawa Castle in present-day Yamagata Prefecture. Governed by the Uesugi clan, it was known for its samurai traditions, agricultural development, and the reforms of Lord Uesugi Yōzan. The domain existed from 1601 until the abolition of the han system in 1871. Led by Uesugi Narisada, the domain now intervenes in the heated era of the Napoleonic Wars, forging foreign alliances and expanding its military influence abroad. Caught between the ambitions of great powers, Yonezawa strives to establish itself as a formidable force on the international stage, aspiring to become the next Shogunate to rule Japan.
