Description
The Gilded Six (Still under development) ✧══════▣◎▣════════════▣◎▣══════✧ The Gilded Six formed in 1895 as a quiet alliance of America’s most powerful families, united by wealth and mutual interest rather than formal agreement. At its center stood John J. Astor IV, whose dominance in New York society defined old-money authority. Alongside him, Louis Perier, Sinclair Velmont, Matthew Van Der Meer, George Bennett, and Edward Moreton combined industrial power, regional influence, and capital to shape the nation from behind closed doors. From 1895 to 1912, they steered America’s industrial rise with subtle control over infrastructure, finance, and politics. Astor’s death in 1912 marked a turning point, weakening the alliance’s balance of power. Though the Six endured in wealth and name, its golden age of unity and unquestioned dominance had ended. ✧══════▣◎▣════════════▣◎▣══════✧
