Description
The Shimazu clan (1180s–1870s) was a powerful Japanese samurai family that ruled the Satsuma Domain (modern-day Kagoshima) for nearly 700 years. Founded by Shimazu Tadahisa, they became the dominant force in Kyushu, known for their warrior tradition, early adoption of firearms, and trade with the Ryukyu Islands.
