Description
Professional pride is inherent in the operations conducted from Naval Air Station Oceana, which is something typical of the Blacklions of VFA-213. In this regard, this squadron has a history of being quite active since its foundation back in 1955, especially considering that VFA-213 was formed during the development of the cockpit of the F-14 Tomcat aircraft, an aircraft unique to the era of aviation. At present, the unit uses the twin-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft, thus, maintaining its traditions of strictness during operations. The slogan of the unit, "Fortune Favors the Bold," goes beyond the meaning of the slogan on the flight clothes, as it reflects the attitude towards nightly flights of aircraft from the deck of the carrier during unfavorable sea weather and mission planning at long distances away.
