15th light infantry voltigeurs #489061696
Description
The 15ème Régiment d'Infanterie Légère (that's the "15th Light Infantry Regiment" in English) was a famous French army unit. Think of them as a fast and flexible group of soldiers who played a big part in history, especially during the French Revolution and the time of Napoleon Bonaparte. These soldiers were called "light infantry" because they were designed for quick movements and skirmishes, rather than standing in rigid battle lines. They were experts at scouting and fighting in spread-out formations. After Napoleon's era, this historic unit eventually became what we know as the 90th Line Infantry Regiment in 1854. So, when you hear about the "15th Light," you're talking about a unit central to some of France's most pivotal military moments
