Evelpidon Regiment Sýntagma Evelpídon Σύνταγμα Ευελπίδων The Evelpidon Regiment belongs to the Officer Academy, commonly known as the Evelpidon. It is the Officer cadet school of the Royal Hellenic Army and the oldest third-level educational institution in Greece. It was founded in 1828 in Nafplio by Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of the modern Hellenic state. Those who graduate are called "Evelpides" meaning those who hold good hopes. The Academy provides a pool of executives who fight and sacrifice themselves for “the Nation’s sacred ideals”. The Evelpidon Regiment is divided in two Battalions, the Officer Cadet Battalions comprising of 10 companies and an independent SMY company for people who wish to become NCOs.
