The Wildlings believe that the white walkers come from this region. but even the northernmost Wildling tribes have little if any knowledge of the region- as few have ventured so far north have ever lived to tell about it, if only due to the deathly cold temperatures. "Fear is for the winter when the snows fall a hundred feet deep. Fear is for the the long nights when the sun hides for years, and children are born and live and die, all in darkness. For when the dead move through the woods."
