LA GARDE IMPERIALE // THE IMPERIAL GUARD The Imperial Guard was originally an elite unit of French soldiers under the direct command of Napoleon Bonaparte, but eventually grew far beyond its original size. It was then designated as the bodyguard of the Emperor of the French himself. The Imperial Guard is composed of the finest soldiers of the French Empire, filled with complete dedication to the Emperor. To be chosen for the Guard is among the highest honors a soldier can receive.
