Description

Zalążek jednostki formował się w Ostrowi Mazowieckiej w ramach P0lskiej Siły Zbrojnej. Nadano mu wówczas nazwę 2 pułku Piech0ty 16 stycznia 1919 przemianowany został na 8 pułk Piech0ty Legionów. Podczas wojny z Ukraińcami torował sobie i innym polskim oddziałom drogę do broniącego się Lwowa. Toczył walki nad Dniestrem i Zbruczem. Bronił też, na prośbę rządu łotewskiego, niepodległości tego kraju, zagrożonej inwazją sowiecką. W wojnie P0lsk0-B0lszewickiej od 16 maja do 26 września 1920 brał udział w walkach pod: Dokszycami, Pokostem, Żyżniewem, Cybulkami oraz w decydującej dla p0lskiego zwycięstwa bitwie nad Niemnem.
