Description

The State Highwaymen were a voluntary body responsible for enforcing traffic laws on state highways up until 1870, when the newly-elected Governor established a fully funded state-wide law enforcement agency, and becoming an official Highway Patrol. After it's transition to the Highway Patrol, the agency received additional responsibilities including; conducting investigations on behalf of the state and providing protective services to government officials. Recruitment status: The State Budget limits the department to 30 members. You must be a Citizen within the State of Ashland, have a COPS Certification and have police experience within the state to join the department.
