Description
Thus disappears forever the 18th regiment of infantry formerly Royal Auvergne, sharing the fate of all those old regiments which for two centuries had so intrepidly defended the fatherland against the forces of Europe. In accordance with the laws of February, August 1793, and the decree of the Convention of Nivôse Year II (January 1794), the regiment took care of the enlistment of line troops with volunteer battalions.
