Description
The Hungarian Honvéd Army of 1848-49 was one of the greatest achievements of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence. Before it was formed, there were no plans for it, but within a few months a real army was formed. Initially, it had problems managing its very mixed troops, but the Hungarian side managed to unify, train and organise the army in less than a year, even in the midst of fighting. At first, the troops inherited from the Imperial-Royal Army could be counted on, but later the National Guard was formed and the recruitment of soldiers was also carried out.
