Description
𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 (𝗗𝗢𝗝) is the federal department responsible for upholding the rule of law, administering justice, and providing legal services to the Government of Canada. The Justice Department develops federal legislation, supports legal reform, and ensures compliance with the Constitution, including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. DOJ is accountable to Parliament through the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada under the Department of Justice Act and constitutional principles governing legal authority. The Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General oversees departmental operations, legal policy coordination, and strategic implementation to maintain integrity and effectiveness of Canada’s justice system.
